The Western Union Company in conjunction with Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), the largest Filipino community based organization in Los Angeles, designed the EACH ONE TEACH ONE program to recognize Filipino afterschool teachers who go above and beyond to inspire and encourage progress within the community. This program was created as part of Western Union’s global yes! campaign – the first-ever global brand initiative for Western Union that creates an emotional connection with consumers worldwide. This campaign shines a spotlight on people who embrace their hopes and dreams and who say yes! to the world and their community. The EACH ONE TEACH ONE program identified Filipino teachers who say yes! in three different categories; Academics, Arts & Culture and Athletics.
Academics: Amado M. Ponce de Leon III
Arts & Culture: Barbara Jane Ele
Athletics: Emmanuel and Eristheo Raif
In celebration of their honorable achievements and to help build the SIPA Afterschool Enrichment Program, Western Union presented a grant of $10,000 on behalf of these honorees to SIPA.

Gilead's Hepatitis B PSA Contest
In conjunction with the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Gilead Sciences, Inc. called for public service announcement (PSA) entries to raise awareness about hepatitis B. Out of a total of 29 entries, an expert panel of judges from the festival and Gilead Sciences chose the top PSA. Here is the grand prize winning video, by filmmaker Bao Nguyen, who was awarded $2,500.
In addition to the grand prize winner, there is another on-going contest. Four of the top finalists were chosen to be voted on by the public as the Community Response Award winner. Viewers decide which PSA they think is the best. Visit http://vconline.org/festival/gilead-video-contest.cfm to view all of the photos and vote on the one that you think is the best.
